I don't like bullies very much...There is no way to reach most of them...They are not always logical or rational. They are "little kids" bent on "winning" and putting others "down." Really sad. They don't know how to act like adults....

There is a big difference between being friends and being opponents...I don't want to damage my relationships with friends by turning conversations into so-called debates...

RE: What is the difference between a debate and a discussion?
For me, debates don't damage my friendships, but they are combative.

What would you do if you were in a partnership with others with ownership in your forum, and the other partners wanted debates in your forum?

We want to remain a friendly forum...This is important to all 3 of us...I wouldn't get into a partnership with someone who was in favor of "heated debates."

I can agree with that! I don't even like partnerships, if I can avoid them. But, I am in a married partnership, and don't want to change that. Time will change that.

RE: What is the difference between a debate and a discussion?
Back to debates versus discussions...I don't think that most people want or need to get into hard-core and heated debates about every little thing...Life is short. Why argue about everything? I respect other people's right to have beliefs that are different than mine....This is fine with me. I don't want to turn everyone in the world into my clone...or spend my days trying to prove myself "right" and others "wrong" etc....How do you feel about it? Thanks....

You are correct in what you say, but some people do enjoy debates and discussions, and realize that they will not be able to convert people.

There are no absolute standards about what is right or wrong. It is relative to the culture, as I see it.

I agree with you...It's all relative to our own personal beliefs and culture etc...

Yeah, I always try to keep the relativity of our culture and our personal beliefs in mind.

I realize that many of you reading this, do not want to get into Facebook, but I have found it to be convincing proof of how different people are, just by reading their profile pages.

Facebook is kind of what you make it. I go for learning experiences in Facebook. I don't try to pursuade others to do anything on the internet. I used to do that, but it is an exercise in futility, for me anyway.
