Watering restrictions...
A lot of areas go under water restrictions when they have drought conditions...How about your area? We had water restrictions in CA at times...My friend on the east coast is dealing with watering restrictions now due to the recent heat wave and lack of rain.

RE: Watering restrictions...
No watering restrictions per se, but the farmers get a percentage of their allocation depending on how wet the winter was. Last year we were at 80%, this year started at 80% and went to 100% with the wet spring we had. The reservoir was almost completely drained last year, the fishing hasn't come back yet.
The thing that was annoying about the CA water restrictions when I lived there was that they would restrict your water use, and then raise the rates because no one was using the water and revenues were down. |

Thanks for posting. Have you had much rain in your area recently? We are "bone dry" here. Where are the monsoons? |

RE: Watering restrictions...
A little bit. We had a very wet spring though, and our water storage is looking pretty good. No monsoons down here in Yuma yet either, but it's pretty muggy today though.

Racerchick...It looks like we might have some rain in our area by the weekend. But who knows? What is the air quality like in Yuma? Our skies are yukky here in the summer now...Used to have bluer skies when we first moved here. How about Fallon?

RE: Watering restrictions...
Yuma is kind of dusty & muggy due to all the farming. Also, it's so close to Mexico where there are really no AQ restrictions so that the smog comes over here much of the time. Fallon has great air quality, due to the altitude and the isolation, 30 miles from the nearest city or interstate. Much better than where I used to live in the inland empire. We used to have smog alerts almost daily in the summer, and most of the time you couldn't even see the San Bernardino mountains which were only 20 miles away. From the right spot in Fallon you can see the Sierras, that's over 60 miles.

Fallon sounds like such a wonderful place.....Good that you haven't been targeted for rapid development...I sure miss blue skies. |

RE: Watering restrictions...
You either love or hate it. It suits me very well, but I know people who feel stifled by the small town atmosphere, and feel the need for more variety and excitement than such a relatively small town has to offer. Mostly people who are from a large urban area and get stationed here for a while. Or those that we raised here and want to experience something more. Having experienced the crowds and crime of the big city, I'm perfectly content with this 'little hole in the wall' as my boss calls it.
Fallon is much larger than it used to be I'm told, but there really isn't enough work out here to support a lot of growth. The only thing booming out here right now is the construction of geothermal power plants. |

RE: Watering restrictions...
Racerchick...Great that you have found your "paradise." I used to enjoy living in Vista CA when it was more rural and down-home.
